Electrolytic coatings are electrochemical processes that allow a thin layer of metal to be deposited on a surface, wether metallic or not, by immersion in an electrolytic bath.
This process converts the metal into ions through an electric current, thus depositing the desired metal on the part being coated. Commonly used metals include nickel, chromium, silver and gold, each providing specific properties such as corrosion resistance, hardness and aesthetic enhancements.
One of the main advantages of electrolytic coatings is their ability to provide protection towards corrosion, which significantly increases the durability of components.
In addition, these coatings can improve electrical and mechanical characteristics such as conductivity and weldability.
This makes them a popular choice in a variety of industries, from the automotive to the electronic industry.
The coating process not only improves the functionality of the parts, but also gives them an aesthetic finish. Thanks to their flexibility in application, electrolytic coatings are used on a wide range of everyday products such as: faucets, hinges, and kitchen utensils.
In summary, electrolytic coatings are essential for both the performance and appearance of products in multiple industrial sectors.
Products
ALKALINE COPPER
CUALBRITE
It is a cyanide-based process specially formulated for copper deposits, offering excellent leveling and penetration with a bright finish across a wide range of operating conditions.
ACID COPPER
CUACID – 650
It is a process designed for the manufacture of circuits. The process is characterized by having a high sulfuric acid content, low copper sulfate and three additives that allow obtaining an acid copper deposit oh high penetration power, fine grain and high the characteristics of this electrolyte allow the objection of a high quality deposit, both in the surface and inside the drill.
SHINY/BRIGHT NICKEL
NIKUP-PH(+)
It is an easy to handle paste-like product. It is used to raise the pH in electrolytic nickel baths, thanks to its characteristics it provides nickel metal to the bath while adjusting it to the desired range.
Advantages
- It allows the treatment of the false cathode to the adequate pH (less than 3); since with this product the pH can be raised without inconveniences.
- Due to the product's characteristics at an operative level, its handling is simpler than that of nickel carbonate.
- It provides nickel to the electrolytic nickel bath.
VELBRITE 64-NI
It is a process developed to obtain a nickel deposit with high brightness, penetration, leveling, and excellent ductility. The process is formulated to work with air, cathodic or drum agitation.
CHROME
CROMAC 82 F
It is a self-regulating chrome, specially developed for decorative chrome deposits; excellent color and brightness, no staining and outstanding penetration. It is prepared at lower concentrations than a traditional chrome, which results in a lower concentration of chromium VI effluents.
ACTIVATE – 82EL
It is an activator applied via an electrolytic process, specially formulated to improve the receptivity of electrolytic nickel to chrome deposit, preventing the formation of stained deposits caused by passivated nickel or improper rinsing.
ZEROMIST – 82
It is a combination of surfactant agents specially formulated for chromic solutions. It produces a very fine and compact foam layer during electrolysis, preventing toxic emissions and chromium loss caused by the mist formed during the process. Additionally, this product reduces surface tension in the bath and does not cause stains in the chrome.
It is designed so that, even in excess, it does not affect the behaviour of the electrolytic bath. It contributes to a better working environment for operators by preventing the migrations of chromium vapors. Furthermore, it reduces the corrosion of installations and contamination from chromium migration to other tanks.
WHITE BRONZE
ESTAÑOL 50
It is developed to deposit a barrier coating with good leveling and a white shade in nickel free processes. The bath consists of two metals, tin and copper, which guarantees a uniform shade and easy handling.
BLACK SHADE
FUMAT EL
It is a concentrated liquid mixture specially formulated to apply nickel deposits with a smoky black tone, which can appear glossy depending on the surface on which it is deposited. It operates within a wide range of currents on different substrates. Due to its thin deposit with excellent penetration, it can be used for aged finishes by performing a vibratory process or applying a patina after the electrolytic application.
COBALT/TIN
COBESTAN – 89
Electrolytic process formulated to obtain a cobalt/tin deposit, with a bluish tone, high hardness and corrosion resistance. Which can be used to replace traditional chrome baths and also as a barrier bath when high abrasion resistance is required.
